About the role
Read existing code you didn't write, understand it, and change it without breaking what works. Trace a wrong number through the data to its root cause, and fix the logic behind it. Build and debug reconciliation and data-integrity features across the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node). Handle the messy edge cases that decide whether the books are right — missing data, duplicates, mismatched sources, partial returns. Verify your own work so numbers tie out, and explain clearly what you changed and why. Comfortable with JavaScript/MERN (or able to get there fast — you know one stack well). Can pick up an unfamiliar codebase and modify it safely, not just write greenfield code.
